DTF Film Rolls

Haiyi DTF film rolls are ready-to-print PET transfer film rolls, 100m long, in 30cm, 40cm, 50cm, 60cm and 120cm widths. We coat, slit and pack every roll in our own factory in Foshan, China, in 75µm or 100µm thickness with hot, cold or warm peel. Wholesale orders start at 100 rolls, with a 10–15 day lead time.

What are DTF film rolls?

DTF film rolls are continuous rolls of coated PET film for roll-fed direct-to-film (DTF) printers. The printer lays CMYK and white pigment ink onto the coated side of the film. Hot melt adhesive powder is applied to the wet ink and cured, turning the print into a heat transfer. The transfer is pressed onto the garment, the PET carrier is peeled away, and the ink layer stays bonded to the fabric.

Roll film feeds continuously. The printer runs gang sheets, long jobs and automatic powder shakers without stopping to reload, which cuts downtime, film waste and the cost of every transfer compared with A3 and A4 sheets.

DTF film does three jobs: it holds the ink without bleeding, releases the ink layer cleanly at the right moment, and runs through the printer, shaker and oven without curling, sticking or picking up static. All three are decided by the coating. That is why we develop our coating formulas in-house and coat every roll ourselves.

Our DTF film roll range

We produce DTF film rolls in five standard widths, each 100m long, plus 1200mm jumbo rolls for converters. The right width is your printer's maximum media width, as stated in the printer manual. Every width uses the same coating formulas and comes in the same thicknesses and peel types, so a shop running printers of different sizes gets the same film performance on all of them.

Inside a Haiyi DTF film roll: structure and performance

Haiyi DTF film is built in four layers: an ink receptive coating and a release coating on the printing side, a PET substrate in the middle, and a matte coating on the back. Each layer has one job, and together they decide how the film prints, peels and feeds.

What each layer does

  • Ink receptive coating. The printing surface. It absorbs pigment ink fast and holds it in place, so fine lines stay sharp, colors stay where they are printed and the white layer covers evenly, even at high ink loads.
  • Release coating. Sits between the ink and the PET. It controls how, and at what temperature, the ink layer separates from the film after pressing. Our hot, cold and warm peel films differ in this coating.
  • PET substrate. The carrier film, in 75µm or 100µm. It gives the roll its strength and keeps it flat under the heat of the oven and press. 75µm is lighter and slimmer on the roll; 100µm is stiffer, for large prints, heavy ink coverage and long curing runs.
  • Matte coating. The back of the film. Its matte surface gives stable, slip-free feeding through the printer and shaker, and makes the printing side easy to tell apart: the matte side faces away from the printheads.

Performance features

Strong ink absorption

The ink receptive coating takes full CMYK and white ink loads without bleeding or pooling.

Anti-scratch surface

The coatings resist scratches during slitting, handling and feeding, so the print surface arrives clean.

Glossy, matte and glitter finishes

Choose a glossy or matte finish on the garment, or a sparkle effect with our glitter DTF film.

Hot, cold and warm peel

Every width is available in three peel versions to match your press line.

Long lasting, no fading

Transfers keep their colors through repeated washing and wear.

Breathable

The finished transfer stays soft and breathable on the garment.

Hot peel, cold peel and warm peel

The peel type sets when the PET film is removed after heat pressing: straight away while hot, after cooling, or while still warm. It is built into the release coating and chosen when you order. Every roll in our range is available in all three.

  • Hot peel: peeled as soon as the press opens. The fastest workflow, for high-output press lines. The finished print has a matte, soft surface.
  • Cold peel: peeled after the transfer has fully cooled. The ink sets against the film as it cools, giving a smooth, glossy finish and clean fine detail.
  • Warm peel: peeled after a short wait, while the transfer is warm. Faster than cold peel and with a wider timing window than hot peel.

Use one peel type per press line; mixing them leads to transfers peeled at the wrong moment. Tell us the peel type and press settings you run today and we supply film to match.

How we make DTF film rolls

Haiyi is a DTF film manufacturer. We coat the PET, slit it and pack the finished rolls in our own factory in Foshan, Guangdong. The factory has been producing DTF film since 2019 and runs four production lines with a team of 150 people.

Every stage that decides how the film prints happens under our roof, from coating to packing. Each roll goes through five stages:

  1. PET base film. Production starts with PET base film in the thickness ordered, 75µm or 100µm.
  2. Coating. Our coating lines apply the release coating, ink receptive coating and matte back coating to our own formulas. This stage sets the peel type and print performance of the film.
  3. Jumbo rolls. The coated film is wound into 1200mm master rolls, the same jumbo rolls we supply to converters.
  4. Slitting and rewinding. Master rolls are slit to 30, 40, 50, 60 or 120cm and rewound into 100m finished rolls, or to the width and length of an OEM order.
  5. Labelling and packing. Each roll receives a production batch number and is packed one or two rolls per carton, or in the customer's own packaging.

The batch number links every finished roll to its coating run, so any customer report is traced to the run it came from. The factory operates an ISO 9001 quality management system and is BSCI audited. See manufacturing and quality for more on our process.

Film, ink and powder as one system

A roll-fed DTF print goes through eight steps:

  1. Load the roll with the ink receptive side facing the printheads and the matte side away, fed straight so it tracks evenly.
  2. Print the design as a mirror image: color ink first, then a white layer that becomes the base on the garment.
  3. Apply powder to the wet ink. The shaker spreads hot melt adhesive powder and removes the excess.
  4. Cure the powder in the oven or shaker heater until it melts into a smooth adhesive layer.
  5. Cut or store the cured transfers, flat, for pressing now or later.
  6. Heat press the transfer onto the garment at the time, temperature and pressure set for the film, ink, powder and fabric.
  7. Peel the film according to its peel type.
  8. Finish press briefly with a cover sheet for better wash durability and hand feel.

Film, ink and powder work as one system. Ink that dries unevenly on a coating, or powder that bonds poorly with an ink, causes failures no single product can fix. We make all three in the same factory and test our ink and powder on our own film.

Haiyi DTF pigment ink comes in cyan, magenta, yellow, black and white, checked on Haiyi film for white coverage and drying before it ships.

Film, DTF ink and DTF powder ship together in one container, and our samples come with recommended settings for your printer and fabric.

Sample testing before a bulk order

We send sample rolls so you test Haiyi film on your own printer, ink, powder and fabric before ordering in bulk. Print one test file with small text, thin lines, a color gradient and a large solid white area, run it through the full process, and check:

  • Edge sharpness: small text and thin lines stay crisp, with no feathering.
  • White ink coverage: the white layer is even, with no pinholes or pooling.
  • Drying: the ink does not smear on its way to the shaker.
  • Clean powder pickup: powder sticks to the ink only, not to blank film.
  • Feeding: the film runs flat and straight, with no wrinkles, skewing or static cling.
  • Peel: the film releases cleanly at its peel time and leaves no ink behind.
  • Wash durability: the transfer stays intact through repeated washes, with no cracking or lifting.

Our rolls ship sealed against moisture, with intact cores and protected edges, so the film arrives ready to feed.

Storing and handling DTF film rolls

Haiyi DTF film rolls have a 12-month shelf life stored sealed in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. The ink-receiving coating reacts to moisture, so keep humidity under control in storage and in the print room.

  • Keep rolls in their sealed bag and carton until use, off the floor and away from heaters, windows and damp walls.
  • Lay unpacked rolls flat or hang them by the core; never stand them on their edges.
  • Bring a roll to print-room temperature before opening it, especially after shipping in cold weather, to prevent condensation.
  • Reseal part-used rolls when the printer stands idle, and use stock in batch-number order, oldest first.

Ordering, OEM and certificates

Haiyi supplies DTF film rolls factory-direct with a minimum order of 100 rolls and a standard lead time of 10–15 days. Rolls are packed one or two per carton, or to your requirements, and ship with our ink and powder in one container.

Distributors, printer brands and ink brands sell our film under their own name. For OEM and private label orders we set the roll width, roll length, core, outer packaging and label to your specification.

Haiyi DTF film holds OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 Product Class II, SGS and REACH SVHC test reports, with an MSDS available. The factory is ISO 9001 certified and BSCI audited. Copies of the current documents are sent with your quote.

Troubleshooting DTF film roll problems

Print faults come from the whole system: film, ink, powder, settings and room conditions. Start with these checks.

ProblemWhat to check first
Blurred edges or ink spreadingPrint-room humidity, ink volume settings in the RIP, and whether the film was left unsealed
Powder sticking to blank filmStatic in a dry room, humidity, and whether the ink receptive side is printed
Ink stays on the film after peelingPeel timing for the film's peel type, press temperature, pressure and time
Film wrinkles or curls in the ovenCuring temperature and time, roll tension, and film thickness for the job
Transfer cracks or lifts after washingPowder grade for the fabric, full curing of the powder, and the finish press

Send our technical team photos or a short video of the print, with your printer, ink, powder and press settings, and we reply with the changes to make.
